Setup a JavaScript redirect

It's no longer necessary to use a JavaScript redirect. You can now 301 redirect old permalink/articles to new ones as well as set up URL Redirect categories and articles

There are many situations where you may want an article to redirect elsewhere - perhaps when transitioning from your old KB or when needing to send a user directly to your public-facing website or intranet.

If you don't want to use any of the existing features to redirect articles or categories to different URLs, you can also simulate a 301 redirect with a little bit of code. To do so:

  1. Create an article where you'd like the link to appear.
  2. In the body of the article switch to Code View (Modern Editor) or Source (Legacy Editor).
  3. Paste in this code:
    <script>
    window.location.replace("http://www.google.com");
    </script>
  4. Replace the Google URL with your link, and every time a user navigates to this "article" they will automatically be redirected elsewhere! Magic.
