Automatic Related Articles just got smarter

The Related Articles functionality has long supported an "automatically suggest" feature, which will automatically suggest related articles based on title from across the knowledge base.

We've now made those suggestions a little bit smarter: you have the option to only automatically suggest content within the same top-level category as the content you're currently viewing.

This setting lives in Settings > Basic along with the other Related Articles options.

So, for example, if we were using that setting here, you'd only see suggestions of other Release Notes.

Depending on your knowledge base's information architecture, this could be a good option to help make sure automatic suggestions are relevant, like if you have one top-level category per product, department, etc. Using this option will guarantee that suggestions are from within the same top-level category.

You can learn more about this new setting in our updated documentation on enabling the feature: Enable automatically suggested Related Articles.
