🔎 Advanced search: Performance and display improvements

When we first released Advanced search (Tools > Advanced search), we built a fairly bare bones feature. We weren't sure how much people would use it, so we treated it like a proof of concept.

Since then, we've had enough authors use it and ask questions about it to prioritize a facelift, and today I'm excited to share those changes with you!

Faster searches

We made some performance tweaks behind the scenes so these searches run MUCH faster than before.

While you might still see the progress bar across the top, very often the search will return so quickly you never do!

This change is a huge quality of life improvement and we hope it helps you spend more time on the things you care about.

Results table

We've added a direct on-page Results table so you don't have to download the CSV export to view your search results.

We basically copied the Manage articles interface so the column headings should look familiar. As with Manage, you can select any article or custom content category Name and that content opens for editing in a new tab.

This table displays 20 rows at a time. Use the pagination controls at the bottom to page through.

For longer lists, filtering and sorting, and more, we still recommend using the CSV download.

General UI updates

Since we were updating other things here, we also updated some of the wording, labels, and options for clarity. And we've continued to replace Title Case with Sentence case--trying to follow our own style guidelines wherever possible!
